Tooth-Colored Fillings

Of all the services dentists provide, fillings are one of the most important because they are needed to ensure your teeth stay healthy and strong. And while good oral health is our top priority, we also know you deserve to feel confident about the appearance of your smile.

At Conestee Family Dental, we offer restorative fillings that not only protect and strengthen your teeth but also keep your smile looking great!

Why You Need Dental Fillings

No matter how well you take care of your teeth, there may come a time when you get a cavity. You may notice it first in tooth sensitivity or pain, or Greenville dentists Dr. Burr and Dr. Culpepper may find it during a visual exam or on an x-ray.

Ideally, cavities should be filled as soon as possible when they are small. We know that dental treatment can cause anxiety, but postponing treatment when you have a cavity only results in continued problems. Untreated decay will spread, cause more discomfort over time, and further damage your tooth.

The Benefits of Tooth-Colored Fillings

We are a mercury-free office, which means we do not place any amalgam (silver) fillings. Amalgam is a durable material, but today we can choose tooth-colored fillings that are just as strong and won’t leave you with a noticeable dark spot in your smile.

Tooth-colored fillings are also referred to as dental composites or composite fillings. This material is a combination of glass and resin particles that give the material a unique, appearance that’s similar to dental enamel. Composite fillings can also be color-matched to the shade your teeth, and no one will ever know you have had any work done!

Tooth-Colored Fillings are Versatile

Tooth-colored composites blend so naturally with your smile that we can use them for a procedure called cosmetic dental bonding. Dental bonding gives you the chance to improve your smile in a fast and conservative manner.

Bonding is a conservative approach that is more economical than porcelain veneers, but it will not last as long and will eventually need to be replaced.

The bonding procedure is similar to placing a filling, but we can use the material to:

  • Restore structure of a decayed tooth
  • Repair chipped or cracked teeth
  • Close gaps between teeth
  • Treat resistant staining
  • Correct misshapen teeth
  • Change the shape or size of teeth

With bonding or any procedure, we are always happy to talk to you about your goals so we know we’re providing the treatment that is most appropriate for you.
