Crowns & Bridges

A beautiful smile is one of the best ways to make a memorable first impression. But missing teeth or teeth that are chipped, broken, or poorly shaped can take a toll on more than just your appearance.

If you don’t feel good about the way your smile looks, your confidence suffers, and it reflects in the way you interact with friends and business associates.

High-Quality, Durable Restorations

At Conestee Family Dental, Greenville dentists Dr. Jared Burr and Dr. Tigner Culpepper create restorations like high-quality dental crowns and bridges that restore your oral health and refresh your smile.

When a tooth is significantly compromised because of decay or damage to old dental work, we recommend a dental crown to protect the tooth and allow you to eat and speak comfortably again. Crowns are also used as the visible part of a dental implant.

Dental bridges are a common solution for a missing tooth and involve placing an artificial tooth in the empty space, anchored by crowns placed on adjacent teeth.

Dental Crowns Restore Damaged Teeth

Once our doctors determine that a crown is right for your needs, we will talk about which material you prefer. We offer crowns made of all-porcelain, zirconia, E-MAX, or porcelain-fused-to-metal, and will discuss the pros and cons of each to help you decide which to choose.

The process for placing a dental crown is usually completed over two to three appointments. During the first, we will prepare your natural tooth for the crown, which involves removing a bit of enamel for a natural appearance after the crown is placed.

Next, our doctors will take impressions of the tooth that will be used to create your new crown. You will be fitted with a temporary crown, and all the information we gather during this appointment is sent to a dental lab where your customized crown will be made.

When the crown is ready, we will have you return to our office to remove the temporary, check the new crown for fit, polish it, and cement it in place. With proper care, your crown can last up to 15 years.

Fixed Bridges Replace Missing Teeth

Bridges are made to replace missing teeth using the adjacent natural teeth for support.

Your mouth contains a specific number of teeth that create the structure needed for chewing and fill out your face for a more youthful appearance. When even a single tooth is lost, neighboring teeth can shift, leading to problems with your bite and a sunken facial appearance.

A fixed bridge is designed to fill the empty space with an artificial tooth called a pontic. The pontic is created to blend seamlessly with your smile and is suspended on either side by dental crowns attached to adjacent teeth for support. The result is a high-quality restoration that looks natural and provides the durability you need to chew all the foods you love to eat.
